Washington Football Team: Five players to watch in Week 2 vs. ARI
By Ian Cummings
No. 1 – DB Kendall Fuller
After missing Week 1 with an injury, it appears as though versatile defensive back Kendall Fuller will be available for the Washington Football Team once again.
The secondary fared surprisingly well without Fuller, and both Fabian Moreau and Jimmy Moreland distinguished themselves as playmakers, each logging an interception and a pass deflection. Even Ronald Darby had his good moments, and if Washington wants to have all their playmakers on the field at once, they’ll have to get creative with how they line everyone up.
Luckily for Washington, one of the perks that Kendall Fuller brings to the fold, is that he can line up almost anywhere in the secondary. He has experience on the boundary, in the slot, and at safety, and some of his best play in 2019 actually came at safety, not at cornerback.
Fuller’s return will naturally spawn questions about how the usage of Moreau and Moreland will be affected, but these players don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Moreau and Moreland will get their share of snaps. But the true problem is finding ways to integrate Fuller’s versatility, and how to maximize his ability on a situational basis.
