5. The Reality Is… rebuilds take time.

I hate predicting my team to lose. I especially hate it when I think they are legitimately good on defense and full of exciting potential on offense.

But I’m here to bring the realistic take each week. And the realistic take is that this team is inexperienced, lacks depth in key positions, has a new coaching staff, has had their coach missing time this week for cancer treatments, and is going up against a playoff-caliber team with more talent at almost every position group.

Will Washington’s defensive front be scary this season? Yes. Will Chase Young single-handedly win them a game or two? Yes. Will the offense be much-improved this season over last? Yes. Will the team be respectable and competitive this season in every game? Yes. Are they going to win this weekend? No. But they will cover.

My Predictions: Philadelphia 24, Washington 20. Chase Young gets his first career sack and isn’t the best defensive lineman for Washington on the day. Steven Sims notches one touchdown reception and Logan Thomas snags the other. Tress Way has no touchbacks, and Dustin Hopkins hits both field goal attempts.
