Predicting the Washington Football Team’s 53-man roster
Secondary and Special Teams
Safeties
Starters: Landon Collins, Troy Apke
Backups: Deshazor Everett, Sean Davis
Troy Apke has really been a pleasant surprise this summer, but can he continue to improve and have an impact. Would it be surprising to see Sean Davis picking up this defense very soon and supplanting Apke? Everett and Apke are solid special teamers, so that gives them an edge on other safeties, but don’t be surprised if rookie Kamren Curl pushes Everett off the roster.
Cornerbacks
Starters: Ronald Darby, Fabian Moreau, Kendall Fuller
Backups: Jimmy Moreland, Greg Stroman
Darby is playing on a one year “prove it” deal, but the former Eagle has shined this summer. Could Fabian Moreau be a candidate for a breakout season in 2020? Fuller is one of the finest slot corners in pro football, but he did have a subpar 2019. Moreland could challenge for a lot of playing time in 2020 and may start a few games.
Special Teams
Dustin Hopkins, Tress Way, Nick Sundberg
Sunberg, Hopkins, and Way are definite locks and no one should question it. Return duties could include Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic, Trey Quinn, Greg Stroman, and Steven Sims.
