Round 7

Round 7, Pick 216: Minnesota CB Chris Williamson

Chris Williamson is an underrated cornerback prospect in the 2020 NFL Draft, as his college career featured a number of setbacks centered around repetitive hamstring injuries. In 2019, Williamson stayed healthy with the Golden Gophers and managed to play in all 13 games, logging 56 tackles, a pick and three deflections.

Williamson is intriguing, in that he has an actionable combination of size and speed, and he’s a fairly smart player in the slot, with a relatively developed understanding of how leverage works in the middle of the field. Williamson has some versatility as a slot cornerback who could play safety on some reps, although he provides less utility on the outside. Still, for the Redskins, who have a crowded, cluttered cornerback room, Williamson’s flexibility could be of value.

Round 7, Pick 229: Rhode Island WR Isaiah Coulter

One of the best things the Redskins can do with their last seventh-round pick is use it on a high-upside receiver, given the complicated current state of their receiving core. Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims, and Antonio Gibson all figure to be consistent contributors next season, but there needs to be more established talent behind them.

Isaiah Coulter is by no means an established talent, but he has the athleticism to thrive in a spark plug-type role early on. Coulter is 6-foot-2, 198, with 4.45 speed and a 36-inch vertical. He’s explosive and consistent, and as he continues to refine his game, he’ll be able to better channel his physical attributes and become a contributor for the Redskins offense, either on the outside or in the slot.
