Defensive Tackle. Atlanta Falcons. Javon Kinlaw. 16. player. 44.

Javon Kinlaw is better than the 16th overall selection, but it’s hard to slot him earlier than this. After the Jaguars at nine, there’s just not an obvious fit for him.

But the Falcons would love to land him. They need an upgrade next to Grady Jarrett and Kinlaw could be a similarly-productive three-down disruptor on the interior line. The Gamecock is a high-character guy who loves football and should have a chance to emerge as a contributor in the near future.

Kinlaw is another holdover pick from my last mock. And at the time, this is what I said about his potential fit in Atlanta.

"Kinlaw (6-foot-5, 324 pounds) is a long-armed pass rusher on the interior line. He had six sacks last season at South Carolina playing in the SEC. He’s not always consistent, but he has all the tools needed to be a very effective pass rusher at the NFL level. Kinlaw has had a good pre-draft process. He flashed at the combine and is a high-character individual with a great work ethic. He fared well in interviews and has a number of fans. He should only get better with NFL-level coaching and if Dan Quinn can unlock his potential, the sky is the limit for Kinlaw."

There’s no doubt that Kinlaw is the best option here. If one of the corners falls, Atlanta could go for one of them. Or they could trade up if they want to make a splash and land a guy like Okudah or Henderson. K’Lavon Chaisson is an option here as well, but if Kinlaw is on the board, odds are that he will be the pick.
