24. player. 15. . Cornerback. New Orleans Saints. Trevon Diggs

The Saints really don’t have a lot of needs this offseason. They only have a few holes to fill if they want to emerge as true contenders.

While the teams could use another linebacker and maybe a receiver to pair with Michael Thomas, their biggest need comes at corner. Trying Giants rejected Janoris Jenkins and Eli Apple at the position last season didn’t work, so they’ll have to find a long-term partner for Marshon Lattimore, one of the league’s best corners.

Trevon Diggs could qualify. Brother of Stefon Diggs, Trevon is a great cornerback who was once considered the No. 1 overall corner prospect in this draft. He has since slipped a bit but if he performs better in workouts, it could give him a chance to up his draft stock a little bit and sneak into the back end of the first round.

Diggs grabbed a career-best three interceptions and defended eight passes in his final year at Alabama. He was coming off a foot injury that ended his junior campaign and has only played defensive back for three years. But he still has really good coverage skills. He just needs time to develop.

Diggs’ instincts are his main area for improvement. As mentioned, he was a receiver early in his collegiate career, so it’s understandable that he would take time to transition to the other side of the ball. The more reps he gets, the better off he’ll be holding up in coverage. And the Saints should be able to iron out those issues and turn him into a strong No. 2 corner.
