2020 NFL Mock Draft: Pre-Combine mock with Redskins trading down
Earlier, the Jaguars were able to land their receiver. Now, they’re able to land a starting tackle.
Though the team selected Jawaan Taylor in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, they still need to add some talent at tackle. Cam Robinson has struggled as a starter since being a second-round pick in 2017 and allowed eight sacks while committing 11 penalties last year. That’s not good.
Meanwhile, swing tackle Cedric Ogbuehi, a former first-round bust of the Bengals, is set to hit free agency.

Austin Jackson is one of the more polarizing potential first-round tackles, but he has excellent athletic ability and a nice-looking 6-foot-6, 310-pound frame. He didn’t play his best this season for USC, but there is a reason for that. Jackson actually donated bone marrow to his sister to help her combat a rare blood disease during the 2019 offseason. So, he got off to a slow start as he recovered from that.
As the year went along, Jackson’s play improved, and he showcased the abilities that make him a potential first-round pick (athletic ability, length, and strength at the point of attack). And his selfless act certainly speaks to his high overall character.
Jackson will need to clean up some technique issues at the next level, but the Jaguars won’t mind helping him do that. He can challenge Robinson for the left tackle role and perhaps the team will kick Robinson inside to guard to see if he can be any better at that spot.
