No. 3 – Panthers CB James Bradberry

This isn’t the sexiest pick by any means, but it’s a free agent pick that fulfills many of the criteria that the Redskins need.

In terms of fit, what better fit is there than reuniting with coach Ron Rivera? In terms of age, James Bradberry is only 27 years old, in the heart of his prime. Lastly, in terms of future outlook and depth, Bradberry fills those needs quite well.

Bradberry is a low-risk, mid-reward acquisition. He’s played 15 or more games the last three seasons and has had two or more interceptions in three of his first four seasons.

Coming off a career-high in interceptions this season, Bradberry, in his last two seasons, has held opposing passers to under 60 percent completion rates when targeting him. Playing as Carolina’s CB1, he’ll be the CB2 in Washington, getting work against opposing teams’ Z-receivers.

The fantastic fit here in D.C. will be beneficial for both sides at a position where injuries have ruined this team over the past three seasons. Starting cornerback, PFF elite-rated Quinton Dunbar, has had trouble staying on the field each of the past two seasons, so Bradberry provides an excellent ability to play both sides of the field when need be.

All things considered, here’s the contract offer:

Contract Offer: Three years, $16.5 million ($10 million guaranteed)

As I said, Bradberry isn’t a life-changer at the cornerback position, but he provides stability, leadership, and experience that is much needed at a position where the Redskins have been killed for years.
