Wild Cards

Carolina Panthers (No. 7 pick). Much of what the Panthers decide to do this offseason revolves around the decision they make with Cam Newton. Will they stick by him with one year left on his deal? Will they trade him? And if they do trade him, would they consider rolling with the duo of Kyle Allen and Will Grier again? Or will they try something different?

It’s too tough to know what Carolina will do right now. Once we know more about their coaching situation, it may be easier to figure out, but for now, the status quo may be the best option as the Panthers look to shore up other key positions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (No. 14 pick). Like the Panthers, the Buccaneers have a decision to make regarding Jameis Winston. After he posted a historic 33 TD, 30 INT season, will the team be willing to trust him as the starting quarterback? He has the arm talent needed to make spectacular plays, but he also makes a lot of crushing mistakes.

More from Commanders News

If Bruce Arians has had enough of Winston’s turnovers, he could trade up to target one of the top-three quarterbacks in the draft. But if the team brings back Winston, this would be much less likely.

New England Patriots (No. 23 pick). Tom Brady is a free agent for the first time in his storied NFL career. If he doesn’t return to the Patriots, the team is going to have to find a new full-time starter for the first time since Matt Cassel took over for an injured Brady in 2008.

The Patriots could move up the board if they like a quarterback enough to replace Brady. But jumping from 23 to two doesn’t seem like a very Bill Belichick-type move. They’d more likely wait it out and try to take a smart quarterback with great accuracy. Jake Fromm, anyone?
