Five players the Redskins must consider moving on from in 2020
1. CB Josh Norman
The Redskins probably held onto Josh Norman for a year too long. They had a chance to get out of his contract for minimal dead cap space last year, but they elected to keep him around.
So far in 2019, Norman has been nothing short of dreadful. He hasn’t made many plays. He has been torched relentlessly. And above all else, he hasn’t had much of his trademark intensity when on the field.
Norman could potentially still be a contributor on another team. Perhaps one that runs more zone concepts on defense would fit him well and give him a chance to re-emerge as a No. 2 corner. But that won’t come in Washington. And it certainly won’t come at a $15.5 million cap hit.
The Redskins can move on from Norman by just eating $3 million in dead cap space. That should be a no-brainer for them. They’ll have to look for another starting cornerback if they move on from Norman, but they could find one on the free agent market to complement Quinton Dunbar.
If there’s one player (aside from Williams) who we’re confident won’t be on the Redskins next year, it would be Norman. He simply needs a change of scenery and he should get one.
