3. Redskins must not let Josh Allen beat them with his legs

Much like the Redskins with Dwayne Haskins, the Bills made a substantial investment in the quarterback position with the selection of Josh Allen last year. So far, Allen has steadily gotten better, displaying a monster arm and an ability to extend plays (and make them) with his legs. On 89 carries, Allen had an incredible 631 rushing yards as a rookie and eight touchdowns. He is a very underrated athlete.

While he hasn’t had the production this year he did as a rookie, Allen has still shown the willingness to take off and run if nothing is there. Maintaining their rush lanes and setting a solid edge is going to be vital for the Redskins’ defensive line. Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat must have big games. They should be looking to force a fumble when tackling Allen, as he has had trouble with protecting the football.

The Washington line must keep Allen in front of them and not let him escape the pocket. Greg Manusky should have a good game plan and be looking for ways to condense the pocket and force Allen to throw from it. If Washington can limit what Josh Allen does with his legs and make him beat them from within the pocket, they will be in an excellent position for their second win.
