Goal No. 2 – Don’t get embarrassed under the lights

Kirk Cousins is 5-13 in primetime games over the course of his career. The Redskins are 0-1 in 2019 in primetime games, and since 2002, they’re 16-35. Both parties have been prone to implosions on the national stage, and in a matchup such as this, something has to give.

If one had to choose who would be embarrassed, and who wouldn’t be, the Vikings seem like the easy bet to come out on top. After all, the Redskins were embarrassed from Week 1 to Week 5 this year, and they were playing at 1:00 half the time. Plus, the Vikings are one of the hottest teams in the league right now, and they shouldn’t have too much trouble coming out on top of the 1-6 Redskins.

That said, even if the Redskins don’t have the firepower to best the Vikings, they should aim to avoid embarrassment. This team has already had its fair share of such a thing in 2019, and under the lights, embarrassment seeks out the Redskins with a heightened vigor. For the Redskins on Thursday, no gaffes are allowed.
