31. . Edge Rusher. Kentucky. Josh Allen. 6. player

Giants GM Dave Gettleman seems dead-set on landing a defensive player here, and his particular focus has come at the edge rush position. In this case, he gets lucky, as Josh Allen somehow falls to the No. 6 pick.

Allen is one of the better and more proven pass rushers in this class. He would have been an early-round pick in the 2018 draft, but he returned to school. And it really paid off. Allen logged 17 sacks and helped lead Kentucky back to relevance in the SEC. He showed terrific growth in all facets of the game and should be a solid all-around player on the edge.

Allen will be a great fit for James Bettcher’s 3-4 defense, and he should emerge as the team’s top pass rusher. He’s nothing more than an average athlete, but he has the skills needed to generate pressure at the point of attack. That will do enough to make him an effective option off the edge.

Other Giants Draft Options

Any Quarterback. Did the Giants pull off one of the most elaborate smokescreens of all-time? Probably not, but they could go after a guy like Dwayne Haskins or Daniel Jones with this pick. Still, it seems more likely that they will focus on adding a pass rusher like Oliver with the pick.

OT Jawaan Taylor, Florida. Dave Gettleman has spent a lot of time addressing the offensive line since coming to the Giants. The last hole left is at right tackle. Taylor could help plug that hole, but the team would seemingly be more likely to add a tackle with the 17th pick.
