Redskins vs. Jaguars: 5 Keys to Victory in Week 15
By Kyle Hundley
No. 1 – Redskins must find a way to rally around Josh Johnson
Josh Johnson will now be the fourth quarterback to start for the Redskins in the last five games; not ideal at the position where stability is needed the most, and not a winning recipe. But the offense showed an ability to rally around Johnson after finding themselves down by 40 by putting together a couple of nice scoring drives after he replaced the ineffective Mark Sanchez.
After being out of the league for a few years, Johnson showed that he still has an understanding of Jay Gruden’s offense and what he wants to run, which will help immensely. They will need to rally around him again this week.
Johnson has a great arm and is pretty athletic. This athleticism will help if the patchwork offensive line fails to hold back the Jaguars pass rush. Jay Gruden should be looking for some creative ways to use Johnson’s athleticism to help generate some offense this week, as Johnson moves much better than Sanchez did. Some designed runs or a couple of read-options are something to look for to maximize his athleticism. If Johnson can lead a couple of scoring drives and get the Redskins above 20 points, they will be in excellent position to win this game, as the Jaguars have struggled to gain points.
