No. 3 – Redskins pass defense must limit the Falcons’ big plays

The Atlanta Falcons’ is explosive. It’s no secret. Julio Jones is a generational talent on the outside and Mohamed Sanu is solid as well. While their offense has taken a small step back since Kyle Shanahan left, they still have the talent to push the ball downfield and make chunk plays against anybody.

Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Manusky must do a good job of mixing up his coverages and disguising his blitzes to help take those big plays away. Josh Norman has seen plenty of Julio Jones dating back to his time on the Carolina Panthers, so he knows firsthand just how dangerous Jones is.

The Redskins secondary got two significant boosts this week. One of them is getting Quinton Dunbar back for this game after missing the last couple of games. While Greg Stroman has played solid, Dunbar is the better player.

The other boost was the acquisition of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Coming right before the trade deadline, Clinton-Dix will only see limited action while he gets acclimated in a new system, but he is a playmaker and should have an immediate impact when he’s on the field.
