3. Reality is, the WRs need to step up this week.

Crowder, Doctson, and Richardson combined for eight catches and 65 yards against Arizona.  With Patrick Peterson roaming back there and the run-game clicking, the Redskins had no need to force it to those guys. However, I expect Indy to sell out a bit more to stop AP and CT, so the receivers should get more single coverage, and they need to take advantage.

The most important impact of this game might be setting up the threat for the next two games against the Packers and Saints, which we can expect to be games where the offense needs to be clicking on all cylinders.

I hope those three (plus Mo Harris or Brian Quick, whoever gets snaps) combine for 12 catches, 125 yards, and a TD.  I would be frustrated with another eight catch, 65-yard performance.

Prediction: More of the same. I expect to be frustrated with the WR production.

4. Reality is, if Chris Thompson, Jordan Reed, and Adrian Peterson play like last week, it’s going to be really hard for the Redskins to lose.

Those three combined for 43 touches for 342 yards and three scores against the Cardinals. If the Redskins are able to get rely on them that much again in the home opener, the Redskins will win going away. It’s as simple as that. But if the Colts are able to take those guys away, or at least slow them down, then the Redskins may struggle to move the ball and control the clock.  And that means the defense is on the field more and more vulnerable to giving up big plays to the Colts offense.

I would be thrilled to see 35-plus touches for 260 yards and two touchdowns from this trio. I would be disappointed if AP, in particular, crashes back to earth and they end up with 25-30 touches for under 200 yards and only one.

Prediction: The three amigos ride again this week, totaling 48 touches for 350 yards and three TDs.
