No. 4 – Andrew Luck throws 300 yards, three touchdowns

If the Colts have solid, fundamental pieces in place, it’s on offense.

A running back rotation of Marlon Mack, Jordan Wilkins, and Nyheim Hines is more than serviceable. T.Y. Hilton, Ryan Grant, and Jack Doyle make for solid short-to-mid range receiving threats, and Hilton can go deep as well. Even on the offensive line, while there is uncertainty, Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly, and Joe Haeg make up a solid core, and if Anthony Castonzo is healthy, he’s a competent blindside blocker.

All this pales in comparison, however, to the impact Andrew Luck, at his best, has on the offense. Granted, he wasn’t at his best last week, but after sitting out a year with a shoulder injury, it will take him some time to get comfortable. That process should continue in Week 2.

Luck hit 300 yards last week, churning out 39 completions as the team’s field general. Against the Redskins, he’ll have more success downfield against a young secondary that, although on the track to consistency, will have some growing pains along the way. Luck will be their first true test of 2018, and he won’t make it easy.
