Wide Receiver

There is little clarity at the receiver position for the Redskins. We know who the top three options are, but we’re not exactly sure what the pecking order is among the group.

Jamison Crowder is probably the safe pick. Crowder has been a good slot player for the Redskins the past few years and Smith loved throwing to his slot-men in Kansas City. Crowder should see a high volume of targets, but he will have to improve after demonstrating shaky hands and inconsistency at times last season.

Josh Doctson is a bit more of a sleeper who could break out in his third season. Doctson became a red zone weapon towards the end of last season and with a more accurate quarterback, he could have a chance to put up bigger touchdown numbers this year. Conversely, if he struggles to develop chemistry with Smith, he might become the fourth option on offense and could get phased out altogether.

Paul Richardson signed a $40 million contract to join the Redskins this offseason, so they obviously have big plans for him. He has solid speed and a very good catch radius, so he could be a downfield threat. Still, as the newest member of Gruden’s offense in the receiving corps, it may take him time before he’s fully comfortable as the team’s potential top receiver.

There are a lot of question marks in the Redskins receiving corps, and it’s hard to really pick one that will break out. All three are draft-worthy in standard leagues, and for now, we’ll rank them all closely.

Target Crowder in Round 7, Doctson in Rounds 8 or 9, and Richardson in Rounds 10-12
