3. Alex Smith leads scoring drives every time he’s on the field

Smith is likely to see his first action as a member of the Redskins in this contest. There’s a good chance that he will find some success when on the field, as the Jets don’t have a great defense. So, Smith should have a chance to march the ball down the field.

Smith will likely see action with the full complement of receivers that the team has, at least for a series or two. Jamison Crowder, Paul Richardson, Jordan Reed, and Josh Doctson will all have a chance to build some chemistry with Smith, so this could be a critical look at the Redskins as they attempt to find what their role is going to be in the new receiving corps.

I’m not sure how long Smith is going to be on the field. But when he is available, I do expect that he will lead the team downfield and put points on the board. That’s what he did in Kansas City and there’s no reason he can’t do that in Washington.

If Smith can lead two touchdown drives, that would give the team and fans a lot of hope. So long as he can put points on the board, that will be enough to inspire confidence in him as the franchise quarterback.
