2. No. 4 Receiver: Maurice Harris vs. Brian Quick vs. Robert Davis vs. Trey Quinn
Realistically, you could make a case for any of the six Redskins depth receivers to challenge for the No. 4 receiver spot. But, these four players seem to have the inside track to that position. The three veterans and rookie Quinn should be very fun to watch, but it’s very unclear who the top person at the position will be.
Lately, Harris has been performing well at training camp, making great catches and running solid routes. That would seem to give him the upper hand, but he has done well in camp before only to underwhelm on the field. He needs to prove that this year is different, and he can get started by doing that in the first preseason game.
The other three receivers have also shined at times in camp, but not as consistently as Harris has. Quick had some nice performances early on, but he has also missed some time with injuries. Given that the Redskins elected to re-sign him, they clearly value his veteran presence. At the same time, they didn’t use him as much as they should have last year, so he could end up being cut if he doesn’t impress.

Davis and Quinn are both younger players that have some serious upside. Davis has a good mix of size and speed, and he could end up developing into an NFL starter at some point. This year, he profiles more as a backup player, but if the team likes him enough, they will look to get him some snaps during the season.
As for Quinn, he’s a great route runner. But, he doesn’t have the greatest hands. He’ll need to prove that’s a non-issue to become a trusted member of the offense.
The Redskins can’t really go wrong with any of these options, and there is minimal separation between the guys vying for depth spots. The preseason will be a big deciding factor for this group, so they should certainly be watched closely on Thursday in Foxborough.
