13. . Rush Linebacker. Los Angeles Chargers. Jeremiah Attaochu. 2. player

Jeremiah Attaochu was a former second round pick by the Chargers. At the time, he was considered to be an athletic player who could be a solid starter on the outside. To date, Attaochu hasn’t been able to develop into a starter, but he has the makings of a solid rotational player.

In his lone season as a (mostly) full-time starter, Attaochu was able to rack up six sacks. He appeared in 15 games with 12 starts, this during the 2015 season, but after that, he fell out of favor with the Chargers.

Since Joey Bosa arrived in 2016, Attaochu has been limited to just 12 games. He was frequently scratched in what will likely be his last season with the Chargers, and he also dealt with some injury issues. Still, the Redskins should have a level of interest in him, as our own Ian Cummings pointed out in a recent article about under-the-radar free agents.

"Attaochu projects well as an edge rusher who can also put his hand in the dirt. Like [Junior] Galette, he has explosive burst, and standing at 6-foot-3, 253, he has the size to disrupt the lineman at the point of attack. His athleticism is his calling card, and while his strength was a big knock on him coming out of college, he has plenty of traits the Redskins can build upon. Coupled with the fact that he turns just 25 years old this year, and this signing makes a lot of sense for the Redskins."

Cummings’ analysis of Attaochu makes sense. He’s still young and very athletic, so there’s a chance that he could have a breakout year in the proper scheme. Because of this, he is an ideal backup candidate to serve as a No. 3 pass rusher. Couple that with the fact that Junior Galette and Trent Murphy are both free agents, and adding Attaochu on a cheap deal makes some sense.

On the market, Attaochu can probably be signed for about $2-$3 million, and that would be an affordable deal for the Redskins. If he can stay healthy, he will have a chance to become a quality player, so adding him on a “prove it” deal isn’t a bad option.
