Questions 3-5

RR: How will the Vikings defense matchup against the Redskins offense?

TVA: Washington fans won’t want to hear this, but the Redskins are going to struggle in a horrific way on Sunday to pick up third downs.  They already only pick up a first down on 37% of 3rd down attempts (12th worst) and face off against a stingy Vikings defense that is second best at stopping teams in that situation. That doesn’t mean that the Redskins won’t be able to move the ball at times, but just expect the Redskins defense to need to clamp down on Minnesota’s offense. Points will be put at a premium in this game.

RR: Who is one Vikings player to watch on Sunday afternoon?

More from Commanders News

TVA: By now, all NFL fans should know to watch for guys like Harrison Smith and Everson Griffen. However. one guy that doesn’t get nearly enough love around the NFL is defensive tackle Linval Joseph. He’ll clog up the middle and make running the ball his direction difficult and get pressure on the quarterback up the gut. Plus, I love watching the battle in the trenches. It may not be as flashy as the work being done by the “skill positions”, but “Big Goon” is a monster in the middle.

RR: What is your prediction for the game, including a final score?

TVA: I do expect this to be a competitive game until the Vikings wear down the Redskins defense. Until then, I expect some trading of field goals and quite a few punts to be happening. Minnesota will be leading in the 4th quarter 28-23 and force a turnover that leads to a field goal, putting the game out of reach with a small amount of time on the clock. Final score: 31-23.
