Redskins vs. Eagles: Game preview, how to watch, and more

Remember when the Redskins’ most important game of the season was in Week 2? Then Week 4? Well, scratch that out. Week 7 is officially the most important game of the season. We’re sure of it this time (until further notice).
This week has compelling case to be the biggest game of the year. For the second time this season, the Redskins will face a team that has the best record in the league, and is widely regarded as the best team in the nation. For the second time this season, the Redskins square off against a playoff contender under the lights. And for the second time this season, the Redskins play the Philadelphia Eagles.
If this is the second time for everything, then why is it the most important game, you ask? Well, because, after the most recent five weeks of football, the Redskins are sitting at 3-2. That’s a healthy record, and it’s a good starting point. But the Eagles are two games ahead at 5-1, and a win for the Eagles would not only bump the Redskins back to .500, causing them to join the 3-3 Dallas Cowboys, but it would also catapult the Eagles into sole dominance over the NFC East and even the rest of the conference.
A Redskins win, however, would be entirely different. The Redskins would move up to 4-2, and they’d essentially be tied with the two-loss Eagles. They’d avoid giving the Eagles the advantage in a head to head competition by splitting the season, and they’d gain a ton of momentum from the victory.
So how plausible is a victory in enemy territory on Monday night? Well, recent history suggests that it’s not very probable. But the NFL is week-to-week. No one knows what will happen once the coin is flipped. It’s not as simple as heads or tails.
The game will take place at 8:30 PM EST at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the belly of the beast. It’ll be broadcast live on ESPN, with Sean McDonough providing play-by-play analysis and Jon Gruden providing rather artistic color commentary. Now, I don’t know why you’d ever settle for missing out when Gruden is on the big screen, but if for some reason, you can’t watch the national coverage, fear not. FuboTV and NFL Game Pass are suitable options. Just don’t log onto Twitter. There’s a bit of a delay.
