The first preseason game of the Washington Redskins 2017 season will be Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens. Here’s a look at the top position battles to watch during the contest.

Every year in the preseason, unexpected players break out and create interesting position battles. Some of the battles are easy to see on the surface, but others take longer to develop.

For the Washington Redskins in 2017, the team is set to have a lot of competition at several positions. With a lot of new players joining the roster via the draft and free agency, the Redskins have some positions up for grabs. Granted, they do have some units that will be virtually unchanged, but there are some important jobs undecided all over the team.

In their first preseason game, the Redskins are going to get a look at some of their key battles against a tougher defense and a strong offensive line. The Baltimore Ravens are a formidable foe, thanks to their depth, and the preseason clash should be a good first chance to judge the Redskins younger players.

With all that said, here is a look at the top five position battles to watch during the first Redskins preseason game of 2017.
