Maclin’s Signing Remains Unlikely

While seeing Maclin sign with the Redskins would be nice, it still seems like it would be more of a dark horse move if anything. The Redskins seem willing to move on with their group of young, tall receivers and Maclin would likely force Doctson into the role of primary backup. The coaching staff may see that as hindering his long term development and, thus, they may be opposed to it.

Still, it couldn’t hurt the Redskins to at least look into Maclin. He has proven to be a strong receiver during his NFL career, and he saw a lot of success playing in the Eagles offense that DeSean Jackson was brought over from. Maclin could be the next great Philadelphia defect to play in the nation’s capital. It is a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

For now, Maclin is just a dream for Redskins fans. Either way, the Redskins will be fine, with or without the newly minted free agent.
