Cordarrelle Patterson Met With The Team

The Redskins have already added one receiver this week in Terrelle Pryor, but they could still stand to add some depth. They lost DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon in free agency, so adding a depth player would be a smart move.

More from Commanders Free Agency

Enter Cordarrelle Patterson, who reportedly met with the Redskins over the weekend. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Patterson left the Redskins meeting without a deal and has most recently met with the Raiders.

If Patterson decides that the Redskins are his best option, that could be good news for the team. Patterson is one of the best return men in the league, and he could take over the kickoff duties for the Redskins. He should continue to be one of the top players at that position, and that would take some pressure off of Jamison Crowder.

Elsewhere, Patterson would be a solid fit as a fourth receiver. He could be used as a gadget player and a deep threat. When combined with Crowder, the Redskins could have some interesting packages. The team should try and sign Patterson, provided that his market value is not too expensive. There is a good chance that the Raiders could value him more than the Redskins, so that is a situation to watch.
