This season the Redskins have been anything thing but consistent. The theme this year seems to be “playing to the level of their competition.” They get up to play the contenders, or who they perceive as such, and they lay down to teams that are rebuilding or simply put, teams they have no business losing to. Are the Lions (2-6) and Rams (4-4) terrible teams? No. In fact they both have been putting the pieces together pretty well over the last couple years. Their other losses were by a combined six points to teams that are very much in contention for the AFC South title in Indianapolis (5-3) and Houston (4-4).

When we look at the teams victories this year, they’ve been against some of the better competition in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys (1-7) are better than their record indicates and to defeat them at home to open the season was a big step forward for this franchise. They then walked into a tough environment in Philadelphia (5-3) and came away with a W on Donovan’s homecoming. With their next two wins coming against the top competition in the NFC North, the Skins have shown that they can put up a fight when they “feel like it.”
