I really can’t stand the football cliche, “He can make all the throws”, but Robert Griffin III showed that he can definitely do just that. Griffin put on a show today, completing 75 of 81 pass attempts, four of which were perfect passes that were dropped. I don’t think the Redskins’ quarterbacks from last year could complete that many standing ten feet from Jerry Rice. ESPNU had the coverage, and commentator Andre Ware called Griffin’s footwork “flawless”, and called his movement in the pocket “poetry in motion”. Taking most of the snaps from under center, Griffin showed great skill in running bootlegs, play action, 3 step drops, and 5 step drops, and did so while singing along to Michael Jackson and Notorious B.I.G. songs that played in the stadium. His arm strength and accuracy were truly amazing as he hit wide receiver Kendall Wright and running back Terrance Ganaway in stride several times. A lot of people believe that Griffin didn’t need to bother with his pro day since he already knows he’ll be one of the top two picks in April’s NFL draft, but he’s the kind of guy who wants to prove that he’s as good as advertised, as well as helping his friend Kendall Wright’s stock improve. Redskins fans should be praying that Andrew Luck’s pro day is just as impressive tomorrow, so RGIII will be almost guaranteed to be wearing burgundy and gold on April 26th!
