Adam Schefter has recently reported that the Washington Redskins have traded up in the 2012 NFL draft, with none other than the St. Louis Rams. This is what Schefter had to say on Twitter Friday night:

Washington Redskins traded three first-round draft picks and a second-round pick to St. Louis for second overall pick in a trade first reported by @JayGlazer

Although an agreement is in place between the two teams, the trade can not be processed until Tuesday, which is when the offcial leauge year begins . The Redskins were unsuccessful in the pursuit of free agent Peyton Manning, and immediately turned their attention to Robert Griffin III. The Baylor standout and Heisman trophy winner is expected to be chosen by the Redskins in the upcoming draft.

After last weekend’s win vs. the Giants and the Browns loss to the Cards, Washington slipped out of fourth pick down to 7th. Then yesterday we find out that Matt Barkley has decided to stay for his senior year at USC, which makes things that much harder for us to pick a QB. After taking stock of the teams expected to have the top 7 picks and their needs, here’s how I think the first few picks of the draft will pan out this coming April:

#1 – Indy
Needs: The next Peyton Manning.
Predicted Pick: Andrew Luck. Yes, RG3 is turning heads, and Luck was the runner up for the Heisman for the second year in a row, but hey… Indy has already been casing this guy long enough… seems they have their mind made up.

#2 – Minnesota
Needs: This is a team that has the 16th ranked offense in the NFL… not terrible but they could use some help in the secondary. Team is tied with Indy for dead last in the league with only 6 interceptions and 27th in pass defense giving up nearly 270 yards per game in the air. Not to mention, the team is 30th in the league in points given up per game at 28.0, with more than 19 pts coming in the air.
Predicted Pick: Morris Claiborne. I think they’ve kinda decided they’re set at QB, but they do have other needs. (more…)

Is Mike Shanahan's ability to adjust going to hurt the Redskins?

Has the game passed Shanahan by? - Riggo's Rag - Riggo's Rag - A Washington Redskins Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

This is just a hypothetical question, but considering people were quick to say this of Joe Gibbs I say this question is totally fair.

The Redskins are better run organization, save the Albert Haynesworth situation, and anyone can see that. But two games in a row we have seen the team fail to make adjustments and losing because of that. In Shanahan’s last few seasons in Denver, he experienced late collapses. In 2008, the Broncos crashed to earth, despite leading the AFC West and missed the playoffs all together. Was that because Shanahan was unable to adjust and keep his team moving forward?

Two quick points that have led me to this idea

1. With the clock ticking and the pass game needing to come into play, why was Torain still in there? Result the pass protection suffered and he even contributed in giving up a sack.

2. The middle of the field was extremely soft, why no adjustments? And why not play the run tighter?

I have yet to see Mike Shanahan make a mid-game adjustment. That is what I am looking for. I just hope it happens soon.

I think I am going to be sick…but what do you think?
