The Redskins have been doing plenty of purging…and lots of it!

Clinton Portis, Derrick Dockery and Andre Carter have begun what will be a mass exit as the Redskins begin to move beyond Joe Gibbs II era players once and for all.  But as locker nameplates of household name veterans begin to come off, I feel one should stay for a little while longer–Santana Moss.

Santana Moss has been, to this point, the Redskins most reliable deep threat.  Until the emergence of Anthony Armstrong last season, he was the only option deep.  Since he has been here, he always had that “big play” ability and as woeful as the Redskins offense has been during that span, his ability would be needed.

Assuming everything fell into place, the Redskins should absolutely go after him. The Giants released the wide receiver in April 2009, and barring a suspension from the league, he will be available for services.

We have discussed in lengths on the troubles facing the wide receiver group, adding Burress would significantly add a dynamic that would instantly give credibility to this offense. With a proven quarterback and experienced wide receiver in Santana Moss, potentially opposite to him, this would raise the Skins stock several notches.
