Redskins hold player-only practice today

The Redskins may be locked out of Ashburn, but nearly 30 players took part in a non-mandatory practice session. London Fletcher team captain and defensive leader took the lead in putting this effort together.

As far as defense and offense goes, it has been said that there were more members of the offensive unit present. As a matter of fact quarterbacks Rex Grossman and John Beck took turns running the offense.

Moss Did See A Canadien Doctor

Last week the story broke that Redskins WR Santana Moss was a patient of Dr. Anthony Galea. Galea was arrested last week on charges of supplied illegal doses of HGH to American and Canadian athletes. Today at Redskins Park, the team was made available to the media. Philip Daniels, defensive end, had this to say in regards to the situation (via @AP):

Moss told a small group of players last week that he was treated by Dr. Anthony Galea. Daniels indicated that Moss portrayed the treatments as routine and did not involved any banned substances.Daniels says he believes Moss is “telling us the truth.”

Moss referred questions on the matter to coach Mike Shanahan after Wednesday’s off-season practice. Shanahan says he has spoken with Moss and is confident the veteran wideout will not be suspended.

Reactions To The HGH Accusations From Ashburn

The HGH wave has barely arrived, and I feel we are just at the tip of the iceberg. With that said, it was only a matter of time until questions would be posted towards the team and organization. The reports state that the detainment of Dr. Anthony Galea, a Canadian physician, arrived in DC to visit with a Redskins player.

Today at Redskins Park, the team was participating in their third day of their first session of OTAs. Today, the team was made available for the media.

Andre Carter:

“We really don’t know,” linebacker Andre Carter said. “But if that day does come up, and they discuss who the suspect is, we’ll plan accordingly. But regardless, if he did or didn’t make that mistake, he’s still family. We won’t turn our backs on him. We just got to go along with it.”

Malcolm Kelly:

“It’s kind of disappointing, as far as that whole deal goes,” receiver Malcolm Kelly said. “A lot of people are accused of doing it all the time. To come out now when we’re out trying to get everything together, it’s just another distraction.”

Philip Daniels:

“There’s no excuse,” Daniels said. “Every guy knows that we can’t use that. Every guy knows that. You know if you’re using it, that ain’t a good thing.

“Any other supplement that you use – I can see something over the counter, that you bought at the store, you get tested and you come up positive. That’s different. You didn’t know it was in there. But HGH, you know what that is. You know what that is. There’s really no excuse.”

Mike Shanahan:

“We’ll let the due process take care of itself,” Shanahan said. “But I’m not going to answer to every type of question that comes – some doctor comes to town and supposedly is seeing a player. The NFL is on top of all those things. If there’s any validity to it, they will contact me and contact our organization, which they have not done.”
