Currently, Washington is sitting in 10th place in the NFC standings with all the teams ahead of them in action today.

November 25, 2012; Tampa, FL, USA; Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez (88) runs with the ball during the first quarter against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.
#1 Atlanta vs #7 Tampa Bay

Atlanta pretty much has their division gift wrapped so them winning will not have any effect of the Redskins making the playoffs. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, can extend their lead over Washington by a game with this win. Redskins fans wouldn’t mind seeing Atlanta victorious in the match up.

Nov 19, 2012; San Francisco, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick (7) throws a pass against the Chicago Bears at Candlestick Park. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-US PRESSWIRE

#2 San Francisco vs #9 New Orleans

This game is important because with a New Orleans loss, the Redskins and Saints would hold the same record at 5-6, giving the tie breaker to Washington from the opening day win at the Superdome. New Orleans is hot right now so San Francisco needs to bring their A game if they plan on winning this game.

Oct 14, 2012; Houston, TX, USA; Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) prepares for a game against the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Brett Davis-US PRESSWIRE

#3 Green Bay vs #4 New York Giants

This may be the most important match up of the week. Green Bay is squaring up with the NFC East division leader. With this win for the Packers, it will set up a Monday Night showdown between the Redskins and the Giants for the division lead. With the division lead the Redskins would catapult to the #4 seed in the NFC and control their own destiny to win the NFC East and make the playoffs. All Redskins fans should have a piece of cheese on their head today!

Nov 25, 2012; Chicago, IL, USA; Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall (15) eludes the tackle of Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield (26) during the first quarter at Soldier Field. Mandatory Credit: Dennis Wierzbicki-US PRESSWIRE

#5 Chicago vs #8 Minnesota

This game is more important within the NFC North division, however, does effect whether Washington can inch up a spot in the overall playoff picture. The Redskins also hold the tie breaker over the Vikings, so staying even with them is important.

Nov 22, 2012; Arlington, TX, USA; Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III (10) hands off to fullback Alfred Morris (46) during the game against the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving at Cowboys Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Tim Heitman-US PRESSWIRE

Overall, there are many ways that other teams can help Washington gain ground in the conference, but the best way is for Washington to win the remaining games on their schedule. That would have the Redskins finishing the season at 10-6 (5-1) Division. I like the direction that Washington is going and the end of the season is set up for a serious run to be made. I can garauntee you that there is not one team that is looking forward to playing the Redskins in the playoffs.

With all this talk about the Presidential election, it is very easy to forget that it is also time to vote for who will represent their team in the Pro Bowl! The official Pro Bowl ballots have been opened and there are some Redskins that have made a serious case to be considered to play amongst this years elite. If you have already made up your mind about who you would like to see, CLICK HERE to exercise your right to vote. If you need a reminder of the top Redskins competing for a spot, continue to read.

Mandatory Credit: Brad Penner-US PRESSWIRE

Robert Griffin III- QB- 133/189 (70.4%) 1,601 yds. 7 td 3 int. Passer rating: 101.8 64 att. 468 yds. 6 tds.

Game by game, Robert Griffin III is molding into one of the most respected and feared opposing quarterbacks for defenses to line up against. He is already proving week after week that he can be consistently efficient and put his team in the best position to score more times than not. The leader of the Washington offensive attack has the Redskins currently 5th in the league in scoring (28.7 ppg) Because of Griffin III, defenses have to think twice before blitzing as he can run past just about any defender on the field. Defenses have to think twice about sitting in a zone as he can thread the needle with impressive accuracy. He has changed the way you have to play defense, period.

October 14, 2012; Landover, MD, USA; Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris (46) celebrates with Redskins tight end Fred Davis (83) after scoring a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings in the second quarter at FedEx Field. Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

Alfred Morris- RB 138 att. 658 yds. (4.8 ypc) 5 tds.

With the Nationals out of the playoffs the only home run swings you will see is from Redskins running back Alfred Morris. His now famous touchdown celebration has been seen 5 times in 7 games and you are safe to assume that it will be seen much more this year. Morris, in his rookie season is currently 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards by ONE yard. (Arian Foster – 659 yds.) Not to mention he has managed to do so with 30 less carries than Foster. A Lot of people give credit to Morris’ success to the threat of Griffin III and the zone blocking scheme of Coach Shanahan. I say that can’t be further from the truth. Don’t agree? Answer these questions… Has every back that has played under Shanahan had this type of success? How come the coaches didn’t go with Helu, Jr. or Royster to start the season? Why didn’t proven veteran Ryan Grant not get a fighting chance to take over as starter? The answer is because Alfred Morris is the truth. His skill and ability to read holes and break tackles has lead the Redskins to the #1 rushing offense in the NFL (177 ypg.) Look out once Morris’ carries begin to get in the 25-30 per game range. I predict alot of leads will be protected due to the insurance policy of Alfred Morris.

Be on the lookout for…

Oct 21, 2012; East Rutherford, NJ, USA; New York Giants cornerback Jayron Hosley (28) is late as Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss (89) catches the go ahead touchdown pass in the final minutes of the 4th quarter at MetLife Stadium Mandatory Credit: William Perlman/THE STAR-LEDGER via US PRESSWIRE

Santana Moss- WR 19 Rec. 290 yds. (15.3 ypc) 4 tds.

With the uncertain status of Garcon and the loss of Fred Davis for the remainder of the season, Griffin III’s most reliable target could see more targets. To date, Moss is tied for 8th in the NFL with 4 touchdown catches. With his new position in the slot, he is getting more touches in the open field which translates into big plays. With Griffin III potentially being the best quarterback prospect in the NFC, his #1 target has a good chance of being selected also, even if selected by coaches.

There are other noteworthy Redskins that probably deserve to be mentioned, but with the lack of success from the Redskins defense, it will be tough to give credit to any individual efforts from our defensive studs. Hopefully the defense will make some changes so that the Redskins will have a well rounded showing in the Pro Bowl.

Sure, my opinion may not be worth as much as a well dressed advertiser that guarantees that you’ll like the way you look, but you should hear me out.

Seattle is terrible, they may just be the worst 4-6 team of all time. Their offense has more of a problem converting third downs than we do, at 31.7% as opposed to our 35.5%.

They have Tavaris Jackson at quarterback. This is the same guy that couldn’t get a pass off in Minnesota, they bring over his favorite target with him and still no production. Tavaris has been the leading passer in three games all year and one of which his 197 yards beat out Alex Smith’s 124. (more…)
