You have fans who feel, this was a good learning experience. It is only preseason.

There are fans who feel that this team will be no better than those led by Steve Spurrier.

Asburn,VA – Training camp is one of the best chances for fans to get close to the athletes they support.

Casey Rabach meet some young fans.

Fans of all ages attend the hot and muggy practices in hopes to catch a glimpse or an autograph of their favorite player. Many of those in attendance are children.

Quandra Harrell, from Upper Marlboro, MD, and Ron Petit, Clair, PA, with his kids.

“I just hope my kids get some autographs, and have a good time,” says Ron Petit, or Claire, PA.

The Redskins have put together a package to that lets the kids get closer to the Redskins than ever before. For a nominal price kids can be signed up to the “Redskins Kids Club.” This is a membership package that give kids a membership card, t-shirts, and other goodies. Most important of all, it brings them closer to the action during practice. Kids can get a good look at their favorite players and get player autographs up close and personal. Each child may be accompanied by one adult.

For the kids that are not signed up, they can participate in the different activities designed to give the kids something fun to do. The staff at Redskins Park set up a tire course for kids to run through and a climbing wall to test their athletic skills.

Bring your child to training camp may not be as unbearable as it once was, now that they have something to do. Having the opportunity to get them close to their favorite players is a plus too.

Hope is officially dead for the Redskins fans. This was not anger's rise but anger's death knell.

Dan Steinberg had an interesting article where he described his experience at Fed Ex Field today. He’s right in that the fans were angry and unruly and people were definitely shouting things on the way out of the stadium. Like him, I also saw the poor guy on the Sax get heckled for not playing a sad enough song (Ironically, he was playing “You had a bad day” at the time). I think there’s one important fact that he missed however.

The anger that he sensed with the fans is not increasing. Rather, it is dying out. Fans get angry when they still maintain hope that the team could actually do something. Hope is officially dead for the Redskins fans. This was not anger’s rise but anger’s death knell. It will soon be replaced by something much, much worse — apathy. When fans bitch and moan, well that’s business as usual. It’s when the fans stop caring that you really have a problem, and underneath today’s rage I saw the seeds of apathy growing in the fans.

This was the low point of the season for the Redskins. The schedule gets tougher here on out, especially at home. Nobody will expect them to win after this. The fans that bother to show up might complain and boo, but the rage you’re hearing today will be dead and buried. Nobody will really care. Lifelong Redskins fans are finding it hard to stay loyal to a team that refuses to deviate from a strategy that failed them year after year. The Redskins are not just a bad team, but they’re a bad team with no real hope for change. There is no end in sight as long as Mister Snyder refuses to bring in an experienced and proven General Manager so that the team can be built properly — through the draft.
