From the twitter account of ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Redskins have traded defensive end Vonnie Holiday for Arizona running back Tim Hightower. The trade will also include a later pick in an upcoming draft. Hightower looks to immediately compete for the starting job with current Skins running back Ryan Torain. Hightower is a native of the DC metro area and would be a significant upgrade in the backfield for the Skins, should he remain healthy.

Amid the all the controversy surrounding him and four game suspension recently imposed for substance abuse, the Steelers deem that they have seen enough and dealt him to the New York Jets.

Peter King of SI.com and NBC confirms that it’s a done deal.  Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post reports that the Jets gave up a fifth-round draft pick for [Santonio] Holmes, who was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII.  A fifth-round draft pick for a former Super Bowl MVP.

It has not been a good off season, PR-wise for the Steelers, as Ben Roethlisberger is expecting hear more, presumably bad, news today. Per ProFootballTalk.com:

We’re also wondering whether the Steelers pulled the trigger on the deal so quickly because they fear there’s a chance that, come 2:00 p.m. E.T. on Monday, they’ll get another dose of bad news from District Attorney Fred Bright, ESPN’s report on the matter notwithstanding.
