Week eight was one to forget for Redskins fans. We watched RGIII make throw after throw under pressure, each one on the money, and ten of them dropped. Two of those drops were easy touchdowns that would have kept us competitive in the game. The coaching staff deserves some of the blame, too, because they were getting too creative with the plays instead of just running the offense the way it’s been successful. Too many trick plays were drive-killers, and instead of keeping the Pittsburgh defense off balance, they knocked the Redskins offense out of sync. We had way too many pass plays, and abandoned the run too early, even though Alfred Morris was running well. It was a very frustrating game to watch. The one positive was that we didn’t turn the ball over against an extremely opportunistic defense. That was quite a feat after the gifts we gave away in New York the week before. Hopefully the Skins take out their pent up anger and frustration on a Carolina team that’s struggling in every way. There is no reason to struggle offensively or defensively this week. Let’s get a blowout win at home!!!

Michael Vick finally had a game with no turnovers, and still got blown out. The Falcons couldn’t force Vick into making mistakes, but the Eagles struggled to move the ball, and didn’t put up much of a fight. Vick has looked dejected in his press conferences, and plays like he’s lost confidence in himself and his team. If this were a team outside of the NFC East, I might find that more sad than amusing, but as a Skins fan, I’m enjoying it while it lasts. The Eagles go up against the Saints on Monday night. If Vick can’t put up huge numbers against that pathetic defense, he might be warming the bench in the near future.

Tony Romo has been an interception machine this season, putting smiles on the faces of fans of every other team in the NFL. Cowboy fans continue to blame the offensive line, the receivers, Jason Garrett, Jerry Jones, George W. Bush, or anyone but Romo. It’s crazy. The interception that Jason Pierre-Paul returned for a touchdown on Sunday had nothing to do with a receiver running a bad route, or a breakdown in pass protection. It was just a really ugly pass from an over-hyped, mediocre quarterback. Romo, much to everyone’s surprise, played very well in the second quarter, and most of the second half, but on the drive that could have won the game, he threw another interception. The Cowboys gave the Giants a little bit of a scare by briefly taking the lead, but that didn’t last very long. This week, the Cowboys have a prime time match-up in Atlanta. Dallas has been good recently against teams that are 7-0 or better, but are they really good enough to beat Matt Ryan in Atlanta? Probably not.

Eli Manning didn’t have that great of a game in Dallas this week. He could’ve put the game away early after his defense turned three first quarter interceptions into good field position, but the drives stalled, causing the Giants to settle for field goals on two of them. Eli had no touchdown passes, but he bested Romo by only throwing one interception. The Giants are hosting Pittsburgh this Sunday, and I would like to see them suffer the same fate that the Redskins and Eagles did in the hands of the Steelers. I’ll be waving a terrible towel this weekend, hoping that the Giants get pummeled!

Here are the total passing stats through week 8:

Griffin: 149-223 1,778 yards 8 TD 3 INT 16 Sacks 97.3 QB rating

Vick: 157-266 1,823 yards 9 TD 8 INT 20 Sacks 78.6 QB rating

Romo: 186-283 2,073 yards 9 TD 13 INT 13 Sacks 78.8 QB rating

Manning: 184-294 2,301 yards 12 TD 8 INT 6 Sacks 89.1 QB rating

In the week five match-up against the Atlanta Falcons, every Redskin fan’s biggest fear came true: RGIII got hurt. Thankfully, it was just a mild concussion, and he should be back on the field this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings defense is better against the run than the pass, so RGIII will have to make plays with his arm without taking too many big hits. In week five, Griffin’s best drive was ruined by a missed field goal, so he should be eager to get back out on the field and prove to the home crowd that he can lead this team to points and victories. Come on Robert. Help break the home losing streak. It’s embarrassing!

Speaking of embarrassments, Michael Vick fumbled away a potential victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, causing Eagles fans to choke on their cheesesteaks while they begged to see Nick Foles take over. Vick has become a turnover machine, and I think Philly fans are tired of hearing him talk about how he’s going to fix his problem every week. This week, the Eagles face a weak Detroit defense. If Vick has multiple turnovers again, there could be a bench in his future.

Unfortunately, Tony Romo had the week off, so we couldn’t laugh at him this week. Wait a minute. I’m still laughing about the week before!!

After trailing early, Eli Manning and the Giants came back to clobber a bad Cleveland team. Eli threw three touchdowns, all to Victor Cruz, and was helped out immensely by his running game and defense. The Giants face a tough 49ers team this week, and they can’t count on two easy scores from special teams mistakes this time. The San Francisco defense will stifle the running game, so Eli will have to make quick decisions to avoid getting beaten up by the pass rush. He should get Hakeem Nicks back this week, so that should help.

Here are the total passing stats through week 5:

Griffin: 96-139 1,161 yards 4 TD 1 INT 11 Sacks 90.4 QB rating

Vick: 108-185 1,321 yards 6 TD 6 INT 14 Sacks 77.8 QB rating

Romo: 101-151 1,148 yards 5 TD 8 INT 8 Sacks 78.5 QB rating

Manning: 128-197 1,579 yards 10 TD 5 INT 4 Sacks 96.0 QB rating

In week four, RGIII threw for his highest number of yards this season, and more importantly, came away with a win after masterfully driving into field goal range in the final minutes. After four weeks, Griffin has the best passer rating in the division, due in large part to having the second best rushing attack in the NFL helping him out. This week, Pierre Garcon will be back in full force, and getting his favorite target back will be a breath of fresh air as our rookie sensation tries to keep up with the powerhouse Atlanta offense. Griffin is getting better, and more comfortable, when it comes to running the ball as pass protection breaks down. The Falcons defense is not very good against the run, so look for some called runs for RGIII this week, as well as some big scrambles when things don’t go as planned. Redskins fans are thrilled to finally have a quarterback they can believe in when the game is on the line with very little time left. If we could only find a kicker who doesn’t give us a heart attack every time he’s on the field…

Vick finally played an interception-free game for the first time this year, as his Eagles knocked off the Giants on Sunday night. These games are always difficult to watch for Skins fans, because somebody usually wins. This game was particularly boring, with neither team scoring until well into the second quarter. Vick’s numbers were still unimpressive, considering he was going up against a battered Giants secondary, and the Eagles barely escaped this game with a win. Before the season, I looked at the talent on this team and really thought they would be one of the best in the league. At this point in the season, however, they’re looking very beatable.

Outside of the Redskins game, the most fun game this week was the Monday night showdown in Big D between the Cowboys and Bears. The Dallas radio personalities were all expecting big things from the Cowboys in this game, and made bold, cocky predictions about the Dallas defense picking off multiple Jay Cutler passes. It played out exactly the opposite of that, as Tony Romo threw five interceptions, with two of them being returned for touchdowns. The game became more and more comical with each interception, and Romo looked completely lost. His line stinks, and his receivers weren’t much help, but the majority of the picks were Romo’s fault, regardless of how Cowboys fans are trying to spin it. It was a glorious game, and we hope Romo gives us many more like this as the season progresses.

Eli Manning threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns, but came up short in Philly. He threw a costly interception in the end zone in the third quarter, and took away almost sure points that would’ve been the difference in the game. Eli has been hot and cold this season, much like he’s been his entire career. If he can’t be consistent, it could be trouble for the Giants since their running game and defense don’t help him out enough. Everything has been put on Eli’s shoulders, and if his receivers continue to have injury issues, it won’t be very easy to win games.

Here are the total passing stats through week 4:

Griffin: 86-124 1,070 yards 4 TD 1 INT 9 Sacks 103.2 QB rating

Vick: 88-155 1,146 yards 4 TD 6 INT 11 Sacks 72.7 QB rating

Romo: 101-151 1,148 yards 5 TD 8 INT 8 Sacks 78.5 QB rating

Manning: 103-160 1,320 yards 7 TD 4 INT 4 Sacks 94.3 QB rating
