Adonis Alexander didn’t do a lot as a rookie for the Washington Redskins. He will need to prove himself in training camp and show the immense potential that he has.

A year ago today, the Washington Redskins made some noise during one of the points of the NFL offseason that is usually quiet. In the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft, the Redskins elected to select Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander.

The team was already rich with young talent at corner, but they elected to bring him on board because of his upside and connections to a member of the Redskins coaching staff. And after all, he was a bargain in the sixth round, so it seemed like a great value at the time.

After being drafted, Alexander was a shoo-in to make the roster, and he ultimately forced Orlando Scandrick to be cut. The Redskins had added the veteran to the cornerback corps to add some experience, but he proved not to have enough in the tank to make an impact. Thus, Alexander was able to take his roster spot.

One year later, Alexander is now fighting for a roster spot once again. And during training camp, he will need to prove himself worthy to avoid hitting the waiver wire during final cuts after the preseason.
