Fabian Moreau is expected to compete for meaningful snaps early at the cornerback position. But before he sees any action, he’ll have to get healthy.

For most of the offseason, there hasn’t been a clear consensus surrounding Fabian Moreau‘s health designation. The third-round pick suffered a pectoral injury during his pro day at UCLA. Had he not had this happen, he could have been in the first round conversation.

Regardless, the Redskins nabbed him as an excellent value pick. How much value they will receive, however, remains to be seen. Per Steven Czarda of the Redskins’ official website, Moreau will get an injury update ahead of training camp.

It appears more and more likely that Moreau will at least start the season on the PUP list. One can only hope he won’t need a redshirt season, like Josh Doctson in 2016. The Redskins can’t be keen on the possibility of losing his talent for the 2017 season.

Nevertheless, the cornerback position remains strong in his absence. Josh Norman will look to be the steady constant once again, and a bevy of young players are ready to prove themselves behind him. Moreau’s impending visit with the doctor will determine whether he can consider himself ready to prove himself as well.
