Today, along with 22 other teams, the Washington Redskins start their voluntary workouts. Starting now, the men in burgundy and gold will look to get back into the daily football routine as they prepare for the 2017 regular season.

The boys are back in town.

After enjoying a nice Easter dinner, it’s time for the work to begin. The Washington Redskins recently posted a short “welcome back” video. Check it out below:

Most players look excited to get back to business. And they ought to be. The Redskins have a good chance to maintain their status as a playoff contender, and with a lot of hard work from this point forward, they should be in the NFC East conversation.

Although participation is encouraged, these workouts are voluntary. These offseason workouts are primed to get the players comfortable again, and slowly work them back into the grind. The mandatory activities are in mid June.

While we didn’t see any new faces in this video, we’ll see plenty more of the Redskins free agent acquisitions in the coming weeks and months.

Below is a quick rundown of what’s still to come in the Redskins’ offseason. You can also find a schedule on the team’s website.

  • The NFL Draft occurs from April 27 to April 29. In the draft, the Redskins hope to add an influx of youth and talent wherever possible.
  • The rookies acquired in the draft will attend the Redskins’ rookie minicamp from May 12 to May 14. Undrafted rookies will also be invited to showcase their talent, and they will have a chance to make the roster, as Robert Kelley and Anthony Lanier did last year.
  • From May to June, the Redskins will engage in OTA’s, or Organized Team Activities, in order to strengthen the atmosphere of the team as a whole.
  • Mandatory workouts are scheduled from June 13 to June 15. This is the first time the veterans and rookies will be on the practice field at once.
  • July 15 is the deadline for the Redskins to work out a long-term deal with Kirk Cousins. Although Bruce Allen has expressed a desire to lock down the quarterback, there is mass skepticism surrounding the situation as a whole. A deal is not expected to be reached by that date.
