Kirk Cousins meeting Star Trek legend William Shatner, the original “Captain Kirk” was bound to happen.

The Washington Redskins recently posted the photo of Kirk Cousins and Shatner to their Facebook Page:

Checking Cousins’ Twitter page, the franchised quarterback (and hopefully this season’s starter) hasn’t said anything about the meeting, but when you’ve been called “Captain Kirk” by everyone in the NFL, it was time for the two to meet.

Of course Facebook users had a field day. One post read, “Can Captain Kirk (on the left) beam Bruce Allen to another galaxy? Please.”  Someone else posted, “Boldly going where no Redskins team has gone since 1991… or so we hope.”

Photos like these are a great break in the chaos surrounding Redskins Park. Last week Cousins spent a lot of time on clarifying what he and Redskins owner Dan Snyder spoke about.  Recent reports had suggested he asked Snyder to let him leave. He claims that wasn’t the case. According to ESPN’s John Keim, Cousins told Adam Scheffer on his podcast Known Them From Adam he wanted some clarifications:

"“I did inquire if there was any interest in trading me to get an understanding of their perspective…The answer I got back was Mr. Snyder communicated his belief in me and desire for me to remain a Redskin.”"

In the meanwhile, Kirk Cousins is also preparing to be a father, and has asked fans to help him pick out some “Dad Outfits”.  In the spirit of helping, begin with sandals, jorts, and T-Shirts from various community organizations. As a father of two Kirk, we’re happy billboards. Get the kid your Redskins jersey. Take lots of photos while remembering to be sure you’re in some of them. Grill out all seasons.  And of course, remember to help with the baby – Mom will need that break.
