Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson is sure to be a popular target in the free agent market. If Jameis Winston has his way, Jackson will be in Tampa Bay next season.

Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston minced no words in expressing his opinion on Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson: he wants him on his team.

Jackson, 30, has been vocal about his excitement to test the free agent market. The speedy deep threat’s 3-year deal with the Redskins expired after this season. Considering his age and his calling card of burst and quickness, both skills that decline with age, this could be the last large contract he signs. Winston said the following of the talented receiver at an elementary school speech, per Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times.

"I’ve met him before, and we want DeSean. You better believe we want DeSean here. I think he would be a great asset to our team. Me growing up an Eagles fan, seeing what he did for the Eagles and back in his Cal days and even with the Redskins, I would love to have DeSean."

Winston, 23, is no stranger to Pro Bowl wide receivers. Mike Evans, his top pass-catcher, is an enormous presence in the receiving game, both physically and results-wise. The 6-foot-5 Buc, also 23, would be complemented well by a deep threat like Jackson. The Buccaneers love to air it out. With their supplementary skills, the combination of Evans and D-Jax would certainly help them in that aspect of the game.

For his part, Jackson has not commented. However, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported that he and Winston have an “existing rapport“. That could make Tampa Bay an intriguing option for Jackson when he hits the free agent market.
