Tom Brady Should Stop Wasting Everyone’s Time

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld the 4-game suspension for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.   Apparently, the NFL had been negotiating with Brady through the NFLPA to possibly reduce the suspension but the NFL stuck to their guns.

It now seems that Brady and the NFLPA will now pursue an appeal in Federal court.  It’s very surprising to me that Brady won’t simply just back away from the table and take his punishment like a man.

Especially with news coming out that Tom Brady destroyed his cell phone after the NFL had requested text messages from it pertaining to the Deflategate investigation.  Things look even more damning for Brady now.

By destroying the cell phone Tom Brady basically threw the smoking gun into the river.  He’s claiming that it’s something he does routinely when he gets a new phone but it just makes him look even more guilty than before as he continues to try to play us for a fool.

Someone needs to talk some sense into Brady, as it seems the NFLPA and his attorneys aren’t going to.  People claim that the NFL is trying to destroy Tom Brady’s reputation but the NFL didn’t tell Tom Brady to deflate footballs and they didn’t tell him to destroy his cell phone either.

He made those decisions on his own, so it’s Tom Brady himself that’s destroying his reputation.  He should just move on.  As a Washington Redskins fan I remember in 2012 that they could have sued the NFL after it imposed a $36 million cap penalty on them.

The Redskins would have had a much more convincing case in court than what Tom Brady has but the owner Daniel Snyder chose not to sue and accepted the penalty for the good of the league.

The Redskins made the playoffs in 2012 thanks to a historic rookie performance by Robert Griffin III but the $36 million in cap penalties did eventually set the team back.

The Patriots organization has accepted their fine and loss of draft picks, now their QB needs to accept his punishment and end this charade.  I keep hearing people talk about how mad Tom Brady is and how he’s going to take his frustration out on the league.

But why is Tom Brady so mad?  Is it because he got caught?  Or because he’s so arrogant and delusional that he’s actually convinced himself that he’s done nothing wrong?  Is Brady really going to waste the time of a Federal Court on this?

Is he really going to go in front of a federal judge and claim he didn’t know what he was doing when he destroyed his cell phone?  Really Tom?  You won the Super Bowl and were the games’ MVP.  You basked in that glory but now it’s to time to take your medicine.

Some Pundits are saying that the NFL is being too harsh on Brady and that they’ve bungled another investigation.  But the NFL didn’t ask for this.  They have rules on the books to prevent this nonsense and all NFL teams have to do is follow them but the Patriots chose to break those rules.

I’ve been a fan of Tom Brady and I acknowledge that he’s a great player and a future Hall of Famer but enough is enough.  I’ve said it before, the integrity of the game is more important than any one player.  Even a player as great as Tom Brady.

Time to accept your punishment and get on with the season.  Taking this to court will just make things worse.
