Outside Linebackers:

 Projected Number – 4

1.   Brian Orakpo –

2.  Ryan Kerrigan –

3.  Trent Murphy  –

4.  Gabe Miller –

Cuts:  Everette Brown,

Outside linebacker Gabe Miller had a  good performance against Tampa Bay.  Miller is competing against Everette Brown for the last spot at outside linebacker and had a sack and forced fumble making a huge case for himself.

Rob Jackson was a primary backup at the position and was recently releases so with him gone this opens up a spot that will be filled most likely by either Gabe Miller or Everette Brown.  Brown is the better pass rusher of the two but I think Miller has the most potential and is a better all around linebacker.

Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan are the starters.  Both players could be in for big seasons as Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has stated that he will turn the outside linebackers loose to get after the quarterback.  Orakpo has the franchise tag so a big season could bring him a long-term contract and Kerrigan is seeking the same thing.  Whichever has the better season will more than likely get the offer.

The Redskins drafted Trent Murphy to help provide more pass rush as he was one of the top pass rushers in college football last year.  The Redskins will use all three of Orakpo, Kerrigan, and Murphy on the field at the same time in some sets.
