The Washington Redskins have made more roster cuts on Monday and Tuesday and they now have gotten their number of players down to 75 before the 4:00 pm deadline. Here is a look at the players the Redskins have released over the past few days:
Guard - Adam Gettis
Cornerback- Bryan Shepherd
Wide Receiver – Rashad Ross
Tight End- Matt Veldman
Guard/Center – Mike McGlynn
Adam Gettis was a fifth round pick for the Redskins in the 2012 draft and he managed to make the roster the past few seasons. Gettis being a smaller but athletic offensive lineman was a nice fit for Mike Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme. However, with new head coach Jay Gruden’s push to add bigger linemen to the team, Gettis’ lack of bulk may have worked against him.
Mike McGlynn was signed as a free agent in the offseason and was expected to add depth the guard and center positions. But he wasn’t able to stand out enough in the coaches eyes to warrant a spot on the team.
Fullback – Stephen Campbell
Wide Receiver – Cody Hoffman
Linebacker – Jeremy Kimbrough
Wide Receiver – Rashad Lawrence
Safety – Ross Madison
Defensive End - Jake McDonough
Linebacker – Adrian Robinson
Defensive End – Jeremy Towns
Outside Linebacker – Rob Jackson:
Jackson has been a key reserve for the Redskins for six seasons and was re-signed this offseason by the team as well. So with Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan as the starters and rookie Trent Murphy entrenched as the top three outside linebackers that leaves at least one more slot to fill at the position.
The Redskins also placed tight end Mike Caussin on it’s Injured Reserve list.
