The Washington Redskins have announced they have activated defensive end Jason Hatcher from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Hatcher has been inactive since having arthroscopic knee surgery in June. The Redskins stated then that the procedure was routine and that Hatcher should be ready by training camp. However, Hatcher has been inactive up until now although he has been doing individual workouts. The Redskins signed Jason Hatcher to help provide a better pass rush after recording 11 sacks last season for the Dallas Cowboys. Hatcher will be moving to defensive end in the Redskins 3-4 defense after playing defensive tackle in the Cowboys 4-3 last season.
But Hatcher does have previous experience in the 3-4 as the Cowboys only converted to the 4-3 last season. Jarvis Jenkins started in place of Jason Hatcher in the Redskins preseason debut win over the New England Patriots. And it’s unknown if Hatcher is expected to start for the Redskins in their next preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.
Hatcher will be monitored closely the remainder of the preseason as he’s the top defensive free agent signing for the Redskins this offseason, and they need to get an impact from him this season.
