Redskins vs. Patriots – Injury Report Analysis – Preseason – Week 1
1. Ryan Clark – FS – Hamstring – Out: Clark will not play against the Patriots. The Redskins will want Clark ready to go for the regular season, so he probably won’t play much during the preseason. A similar tactic was used with London Fletcher late in his career. Bacarri Rambo will more than likely start in place of Clark.2. Pierre Garcon – WR – Hamstring – Out: Garcon has been dealing with hamstring issues during training camp and his presence isn’t necessary in this game. If it was a regular season game I think Garcon could have played, but no need to on Thursday. I look for rookie Ryan Grant to get most of Garcon’s playing time although Santana Moss will start.
3. Jason Hatcher – DE – Knee – Out: Hatcher still hasn’t been cleared to play yet. And he’s only been practicing in individual drills, but head coach Jay Gruden says he’s not that far away. So it’s possible that Hatcher will be on the field soon. Jarvis Jenkins will start in Hatcher’s place.
4. DeSean Jackson – WR – Ankle – Questionable: Head coach Jay Gruden said that it’s possible that Jackson will play against the Patriots. But I don’t think he will. Again, with a starter like DeSean Jackson nursing an injury, the logical move would be to keep him out of this game. Andre Roberts is more than capable of stepping for this one.
5. Phillip Thomas – SS – Hamstring – Out: I’ve been looking forward to seeing Thomas play, so this is a bit of a disappointment. Hopefully he won’t be out for long and fans can finally see what the Redskins have in Thomas. Look for Akeem Davis to get more playing time in place of Thomas.
