Redskins rookie camp Report – Ryan Grant, wide receiver - 6-0, 197
The 2014 NFL Draft was one of the deepest for wide receivers in recent memory, meaning a receiver drafted in the later rounds in this draft would most likely be drafted a few rounds higher in a normal draft. The Washington Redskins drafted rookie wide receiver Ryan Grant in the fifth round this year, and it’s beginning to look like they may have a steal on their hands.
Grant has looked very good so far in training camp. He’s just going about his business, learning the offense, and trying to get better everyday like a good rookie should. He’s also flashed good route running ability and the intangibles to go up and make the acrobatic catch on the deep balls down field.
With the likes of Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, and Andre Roberts around you would think it would be hard for a young guy to stand out, but Ryan Grant has. He won’t be looked to start this season, but the future looks bright. And you never know, as injuries do happen, so it’s good for the Redskins to have a guy like Grant that they know can step in and get results.
But it’s still early, and there’s still a long way to go, but so far Ryan Grant looks like a keeper at wide receiver.
