Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss addressed the media after the Redskins first practice of training camp and stated that not only he, but the entire team needed to come into training camp playing with a hunger. Moss states:
“Every year you should come in with that hunger to take what every one else wants in this league, and that’s that ultimate trophy, that title. And I think every team in this league comes in with the same mentality, the same goals. And it’s up to see you know who wants is more, and that’s how we’ve got to play, that’s how we’ve got to practice.
So regardless if you have a chip or not I just feel like we all have the same goals, every team in the league. But there’s only two teams that can get there and only one team can win it.”
And Santana Moss is right, all teams have that mentality at the start of training camp, but it’s the good teams that remain focused on the ultimate goal for the entire season, and that’s win the Super Bowl. Every team should play with a chip on its shoulder, but for the Redskins to get back to the playoffs they need veterans like Moss to repeat this message over and over until it sinks in.
