In his Wednesday press conference, Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden was asked how he felt about his quarterback Robert Griffin III as training camp begins? Gruden stated:
“From a health standpoint we feel good about where he is there, obviously he’s in great shape. You saw he ran excellent today. Physical condition not an issue. Mental condition we feel excellent. Sean’s done an excellent job with him. Uh, above the neck plays he’s done a great job with the command of the game, the huddle, um his progressions in the passing game.
His audibles in the running game have been excellent. And then we’ve just got to continue to build. He’s in his third year and uh he’s still gonna make mistakes here and there. But the key for him is to learn from his mistakes and not make the same mistakes over and over. And uh just get better every day and he’s the kind of guy who will.”
When asked which quarterback stood out the most on the practice field, Gruden answered: “Robert is the quarterback that’s for sure. Uh, hands down.” So as Redskins training camp begins it seems Jay Gruden has liked what he’s seen so far from Robert Griffin III, and how he’s looked in certain aspects of picking up the offense. But he acknowledges that there’s still room for improvement.
