Here is a list counting down the Top 32 Washington Redskins of 2014 – No. 2

2.  DeSean Jackson – wide receiver

Age 27, 5-10, 178 pounds

Analysis: It’s been a tumultuous offseason for wide receiver DeSean Jackson.  First came allegations that he was affiliated with a gangs due to him flashing gang signs when he scored, and then he was subsequently cut by the Philadelphia Eagles shortly after those allegations emerged.  Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said the release of Jackson was a football decision and had nothing to do with the reports of Jackson and gangs.

But whatever the reasons, Kelly felt he no longer needed Jackson on his team, and once he was released the Redskins were the first team in line to vie for his services.  Setting up the first free agent visit for Jackson and then signing him before he could visit any other team.  The fact is the Redskins no all too well how Jackson has hurt them over the years, and they want o put that effect on other teams.

Particularly Jackson’s old team and reigning NFC East division champs, the Philadelphia Eagles.  Jackson now joins a team who were in need of a deep threat at receiver, and now they have one of the best.  And Just in time as quarterback Robert Griffin III is regaining the form of his rookie season, and other Redskins like Pierre Garcon, tight end Jordan Reed, and running back Alfred Morris can benefit from Jackson’s presence.

It’s rare that a player the caliber of DeSean Jackson becomes available in the prime of his career.  The Eagles felt Jackson was a detriment to their team, and yet they won the NFC East with him as their top receiver.  Could he have that effect with the Redskins?  With Jackson’s athletic abilities he should have an instant impact on the Redskins offense.
