Here is a list counting down the Top 32 Washington Redskins of 2014 – No. 14
14. Perry Riley – inside linebacker
Age 26, 6-0, 238 pounds
Analysis: Perry Riley re-signed with the Washington Redskins in the offseason, and is the lone returning starter at inside linebacker. Fellow inside backer from the past few seasons London Fletcher has retired. So Riley will be counted on to step up more as a leader on defense as a new starter is found on the inside.Riley led the team in tackles in 2013 with 115, his second straight season with over 100 tackles. But the Redskins run defense was very shaky at the start of last season as the whole unit, Riley included struggled with missed tackles. However, Riley came on strong against the run down the stretch of last season, and as he improved so did the Redskins run defense.
Perry Riley has also turned into a solid blitzer as well, and his 6.5 sacks over the last two season can attest to this. And Riley isn’t terrible in pass coverage, but his size at times makes him a liability especially when he’s covering bigger tight ends. But Riley is solid starter, and increased competition at inside linebacker, could make him an even better player.
